Well, it certainly has been an interesting week for us in Colorado… except my wife and I weren’t in Colorado! If you haven’t heard, Colorado Springs got hit with one doozy of a winter storm on Wednesday. Black Forest officially received 13.5 inches of snow… we probably got a little bit more. 1100 cars were immobilized, stranded along side the road. An unknown number of travelers never made it home Wednesday night.
While everyone in the Springs was trying to figure out how to survive this Colorado spring storm, my wife and I were trying to avoid sunburn in Phoenix, Arizona. For this past Christmas, I checked off a major item on my wife’s bucket list – tickets to baseball’s spring training. It’s been a week of watching the team we grew up with, the Cleveland Indians, and our adopted team, the Colorado Rockies.
For us, it’s been a great week – a week that wouldn’t have been if not for our daughters. To them, I am exceptionally grateful. Not only did they watch over my mother, enabling us to take this trip, but they were put to the test, coping with blizzard conditions, power failure, and no heat for over 24 hours. I’m happy to report, all are safe and sound because of their combined efforts. It truly is a blessing to have family to fall back on.
